This day trip will depart Bronxville at 8:30am and return at 5:30pm, via a luxury coach bus. Free parking will be available at Sarah Lawrence College with directions to follow.
At 10am, the group starts at the Dia Beacon for a one-hour guided tour. After the tour, BHC members may explore the nearly 300,000-square-foot former Nabisco factory on the Hudson River, with scores of galleries filled with natural light. The museum features artist-focused spaces, including work by Louise Bourgeois, Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Richard Serra, Andy Warhol, and more. Dia Beacon presents a collection of art from the 1960s to the present as well as special exhibitions and new commissions.
At 1pm, we will board our bus for the 10-mile or 20-minute trip south to Garrison, NY and Boscobel House and Gardens. We will be served a gourmet box lunch in the Visitor Center.
At 2:15pm, guides will take us through the house and gardens on a 75-to-90-minute tour. Boscobel is a meticulously reconstructed Federal house, with some of the finest collections of period furniture and decorative arts. The estate boasts extensive gardens and a great lawn that overlooks the Hudson and West Point in the distance. The group will then be able to return to the house and/or gardens until assembling back at the Visitor Center at 4:30pm for the return trip. We should be back in Bronxville by 5:30pm.
